Support for Foreign Students
Ryukoku University provides the overseas bases for exchange in addition to networking with universities and research institutes in various regions abroad. For example, there is an affiliation with the Institute of Buddhist Studies (a Buddhist graduate seminary) in Berkeley, California, and the Buddhist Studies Center in Hawaii. And the University promotes exchange activities and networking with the local communities. International research exchange began in 1982 with the establishment of the American Buddhist Academy in New York. Later global research activities have been developed, such as establishment of the spring sessions held annually in the Institute of Buddhist Studies and the Buddhist Study Center, and academic exchange researches based on academic exchange agreements with seventeen universities and research institutes in foreign countries. We, declaring ourselves as a glocal university, besides the above-mentioned arrangement of academic exchange are actively working to help various teaching staff to study abroad, to host symposiums with famous researchers from foreign countries, and to support overseas researchers' study. We arrange various overseas education systems and support systems to nurture human resources who will possess a high-level awareness of a cosmopolitan world and play an active part in internationalized society.
