1982
(Showa 57)
Master's Degree Programs in Graduate Schools of Economics and of Business Administration opened.
1984
(Showa 59)
Kenshinkan (Chapel) in Fukakusa Campus completed.
1985
(Showa 60)
Doctoral Degree Programs in Graduate Schools of Economics and of Business Administration opened.
Non-Degree Graduate Program and Special Program for Foreign Students in Junior College opened.
Long-term Plan II started.
About 600 students and staff went to Shanghai, China and exchanged opinions with those of five universities there in the first "On-The-Ocean Ryukoku Seminar".

1987
(Showa 62)
Land for building for Seta Campus received.
Held Japan-U.S. International Symposium in commemoration of the 350th anniversary of both Ryukoku University and Harvard University.

1989 (Heisei 1) Seta Campus opened.
Faculties of Science and Technology and of Sociology opened.
350th anniversary of its founding observed.
Institute for International Society and Culture and Joint Research Center for Science Technology established.


1991 (Heisei 3) Both Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs in Graduate school of Sociology established.
Graduate school of Sociology (both Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs) established.
Long-term Plan III started.
Ryukoku Extension Center (REC) inaugurated at Seta Campus.
Departments of Shin Buddhism, of Japanese Language and literature, and of English and English / American Literature opened in Faculty of Letters.

1992 (Heisei 4)



Department of Politics opened in Faculty of Law.
Welfare Course of Non-Degree Graduate Program established in Junior College.
Master's Degree Program in Graduate School of Science and Technology opened.

1993 (Heisei 5)
Master's Degree Program in Graduate School of Science and Technology opened.
1994 (Heisei 6)
Department of Education opened in Master's Degree Program in Graduate School of Letters.
Day and evening courses started in Master's Degree Program in Graduate School of Letters, of Law, of Economics and of Business Administration.

1995 (Heisei 7)
Doctoral Degree Program in Graduate School of Science and Technology opened.
1996 (Heisei 8)
Faculty of Intercultural Communication opened.
1997 (Heisei 9) Day and evening courses started in Faculties of Letters, of Economics, and of Business Administration; main evening class courses opened.
High-Tech Research Center (HRC) opened at Seta Campus.
Departments of Community Social Welfare and of Clinical Social Welfare opened in Faculty of Sociology.
1998
(Heisei 10)
Ryukoku University Welfare Forum opened.
1999
(Heisei 11)
10th Anniversary of Seta Campus' Opening.
Seta Campus Welfare Training Building completed.
2000
(Heisei 12)
Department of Education opened in the Doctoral Degree Program of in Graduate School of Letters.
Master's Degree Program in Graduate School of Intercultural Communication opened.

2001
(Heisei 13)
Research Center for Humanities, Sciences, and Religion established.
University Education Development Center established.
Ryukoku Volunteer and NPO Activities Center established.
Digital Archives Research Center for Classical Documents established.
2002
(Heisei 14)
Doctoral Degree Program in Graduate School of Intercultural Communication opened.
Open Research Center for Humanities, Sciences, and Religion opened.
Corrections and Probation Research Center opened.
Digital Archives Research Center for Classical Documents
(Zuikōkan hall) building established at Seta Campus.

2003
(Heisei 15)
Departments of Media Informatics and of Environmental Solution Technology opened in Faculty of Science and Technology.
NPO and Regional Government Studies Course jointly operated by Graduate Schools of Law and of Economics opened.
