Professor Kosuke Shimizu and Associate Professor Ching-Chang Chen of the Department of Global Studies in the Faculty of International Studies each had three Top 10% papers.

The "Documents in Top 10%" are calculated from the number of citations to papers in each academic field.
In this index, which represents the impact and popularity of a paper itself, the number of Top 10% papers is also considered to be an indicator of an excellent researcher.

As of the end of November 2021, Professor Kosuke Shimizu and Associate Professor Ching-Chang Chen of the Department of Global Studies in the Faculty of International Studies each had three Top 10% papers (according to Web of Science, one of the world's largest online academic databases provided by Analytics). There are about 1,500 researchers (members) of the Japanese Association of International Relations. The fact that only 18 of them have three or more Top 10% papers shows how difficult and outstanding it is to write a Top 10% paper.

The Department of Global Studies is home to several high-level researchers with three Top 10% papers in the field of international relations, and is the only university in the Kansai area to do so.
