抗議声明文

さる 2 月 24 日に勃発したロシア軍による全面的なウクライナ侵攻は、明白に国際法違反であり、私たちはこれを強く非難し、速やかな軍事行動の停止とロシア軍の撤収を要求します。現在、ロシアの一方的な攻撃に対してウクライナが徹底抗戦の構えを見せており、事態はますます深刻の度を増しています。

龍谷大学はウクライナ共和国が1991年8月24日にソビエト連邦からの独立を宣言したわずか4日後の８月28日にキエフ大学と学生交換協定を締結し、本日に至るまで多くの学生の派遣・受入れを行なってきました。このことから、ウクライナ全土の人々が直面している戦争の現実を到底看過することはできません。一瞬にして日常が破壊され、家族を失い、戦火に怯えつつ暮らすことを余儀なくされている人々の苦境は計り知れません。さらに、私たちの大学はロシアのモスクワ大学アジア・アフリカ学院とも1997年から学生交換協定を締結しています。全世界を敵に回して孤立化するロシア国内の人々の苦境にも思いをいたし、同国で抗議の声を上げている勇気ある人々に連帯の意を表します。私たちはウクライナからの留学生とロシアからの留学生同士が共に本学で楽しく学ぶ姿をこれまで多く目にしており、とても胸を痛めています。 

すでに本学有志が発出した声明文にもあるとおり、龍谷大学は建学の精神である「浄土真宗の精神」に基づく人間育成を実現する心として５項目を示し、その中で「すべてのいのちを大切にする『平等』の心」と「人類の対話と共存を願う『平和』の心」を掲げています。今まさにこれらの「心」による平和の実現を求めて、全世界が立ちあがるべきであると訴えるとともに、当事国のみならず、全世界の為政者たちに対して、現下の危機を一刻も早く収束させるために最大限の外交的努力に取り組むよう強く求めます。

Statement of Protest

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, which commenced on February 24th, is a clear violation of international law. We strongly condemn this attack and demand an immediate cessation of military operations, as well as the withdrawal of Russian troops. The situation is becoming more and more dire, and Ukraine is now fighting back against Russia's unilateral aggression.

The Republic of Ukraine declared its independence from the Soviet Union on August 24th, 1991, and Ryukoku University established a Student Exchange Agreement with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv just four days later, on August 28th, 1991. Until the present day we have sent many students to them, as well as received their students. This makes it impossible for us to overlook the reality of war that Ukrainians across the entire country are facing. The plight of those who are forced to live in fear of war, losing their families, and having their daily lives destroyed in an instant is immeasurable. 

Furthermore, Ryukoku University has had a Student Exchange Agreement with the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University in Russia since 1997. We are also aware of the hardships now faced by Russia's citizens who are isolated from the whole world, and we express our solidarity with the courageous people who are protesting in their country. We have witnessed many Ukrainian and Russian students enjoying each other's company at our university and are deeply saddened by the current events.

As already explained in the [Statement by Ryukoku University Volunteers Against Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine], there are five aspects to our "Founding Spirit", based on the spirit of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism and which we adhere to for realizing our development as human beings. Of those five, two are [The mind of equality that respects all living beings] and [The mind of peace that aspires for dialogue and co-existence with all people]. We appeal to the entire world to stand up for the realization of peace, based on these two "minds". We also strongly urge not only the concerned countries, but all world rulers to make their utmost diplomatic efforts to bring the current crisis to an end as quickly as possible.
