国際学部の平塚貴晶教授、マシュー・ナール氏（博士課程2年）、ワキーム・カステヤーノ氏（博士課程3年）が執筆した論文（Shifting from Native-Speakerism to Trans-Speakerism: A Trioethnography of Language Teachers in Japan）がQ1ジャーナル「TESL-EJ」に出版されました。「TESL-EJ」は、採択率が約5％（2022年度）の世界的に見ても極めて高い権威と競争力を持つ国際学術誌です。本論では、日本のEFL文脈において、トリオエスノグラフィーのアプローチを採用しつつ、古典的、逆転的、そしてニュアンス的要素を含んだネイティブスピーカー主義を説明し、比較しました。また、新しいエンパワーメント概念であるトランススピーカー主義を紹介し、母語や文化に関係なく、すべての言語教師の多様性、公平性、包括性を促進するための思想的スタンスを打ち立てております。最後に、言語教育におけるトランス・スピーカリズムについて、様々な文脈やアプローチを網羅する研究を呼びかけています。

Prof. Takaaki Hiratsuka, Matthew Nall (2nd-year PhD candidate), and Joachim Castellano (3rd-year PhD student) of the Faculty of International Studies authored a paper entitled "Shifting from Native-Speakerism to Trans-Speakerism: A Trioethnography of Language Teachers in Japan" published in the Q1 journal "TESL-EJ". TESL-EJ is an international academic journal with high authority and competitiveness from a global perspective, with an acceptance rate of approximately 5% (FY2022). In this paper, the authors described and compared native speakerism in the Japanese EFL context, which includes classical, reversed, and nuanced elements, while adopting a trioethnographic approach. They also introduced a new empowerment concept, trans-speakerism, and formulated an ideological stance to promote diversity, equity, and inclusiveness for all language teachers, regardless of their native language or culture. Finally, the authors called for research on trans-speakerism in language teaching that encompasses a variety of contexts and approaches.
