国際学部の平塚貴晶教授、マシュー・ナール氏（博士課程3年）が執筆した論文（Enhancing student quality of life in language classrooms via Joint Exploratory Practice）がQ1ジャーナル「System」に出版されました。「System」は、インパクトファクターが6 (2022-2023)の世界的に見ても極めて高い権威と競争力を持つ国際学術誌です。この論文では、言語学習者と教師が属する直接的な教育機関を超えて行われる探求的共同実践活動（JEP）の可能性と効果について掘り下げています。本研究は、特に日本のEAP（学術英語）コースに在籍している学生に焦点を当てて行われました。この研究の結果、JEPは学生に対して学術的な側面と個人的な側面の両方に関する省察のプラットフォームを提供したことが示されました。また、JEPは自己発見と他の学生についての発見の両方を可能にし、学習経験全体を豊かにすると同時に、学生間での効果的な協力が同じ大学内の枠を超えて達成されたことが示唆されました。

Prof. Takaaki Hiratsuka and Matthew Nall, a third-year PhD candidate, from the Faculty of International Studies, co-authored a paper titled "Enhancing Student Quality of Life in Language Classrooms via Joint Exploratory Practice." This paper has been published in the prestigious Q1 journal "System," renowned internationally for its authority and competitiveness, boasting an impressive 2022-2023 impact factor of 6. The article delves into an examination of the feasibility and effectiveness of Joint Exploratory Practice (JEP), which involves shared Exploratory Practice (EP) experiences in collaboration with individuals beyond the immediate educational institutions of language learners and teachers. The study specifically focuses on students enrolled in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses in Japan. The findings of this research reveal the following key points: (a) JEP provided students with a platform to reflect on their present and future lives, encompassing both professional and personal aspects, (b) JEP shed light on both self-discovery and discoveries about their peers, enriching their overall learning experience, and (c) JEP facilitated effective collaboration among students, not only within their university but also beyond its confines.
