2025年7月7日（月）から7月19日（土）まで、龍谷大学の海外協定校の学生を対象に、短期留学プログラム「R-STEP（Ryukoku Short-Term Experience Program）」を開催しています。1日の休息を挟んだ７月14日（月）プログラム7日目には学生バディ共にアニメや映画の世界を体感できるUSJを訪れ、エンターテイメントの魅力に触れました。
以下、R-STEP参加学生のレポートを紹介します。

Today me and my fellow classmates traveled all the way to the city of Osaka. The journey was quiet tiring since we had to get up very early to catch our bus. Also, there was a lot of traffic on the way so eventually everyone drifted off to sleep.

Once we arrived in Osaka, we couldn’t believe our eyes. Even just looking from the bus, the city looked like something straight out of a movie. So modern and so many skyscrapers. I’ve never seen anything like it. We got out of the bus and I saw a beautiful manhole cover! Very cool.

The USJ was an utter chaos to say the least. At least for me. Even so, I really enjoyed it. It was overwhelming in the best way — there was simply too much to do, too much to see and too much so shop. Me and my friend did way too much shopping on this day. We started with cute headbands, then we moved on to plush toys, keychains and clothing. We simply couldn’t resist. During the whole trip, the place was overcrowded. There were too many people lacking social awareness so we were a bit frustrated at some point.

We were most fascinated by the Harry Potter World as we are big fans. Especially the Hogwarts building, it looked so real. There was a beautiful performance by actors playing Viktor Krum and the french ladies from the HP series which we enjoyed. My friend was really excited to see the Nintendo World but it was chaotic. People pushing us, stomping on our feet, yelling… So, we wanted to go for one of the rides there but the waiting time was 120 minutes so we gave up. What a shame.

For lunch, it started raining and we got separated. I went to a japanese restaurant to get tonkatsu and my friend went to get a burrito someplace else. The waiter offered to take a picture of me with the food for whatever reason. めっちゃおいしかったです。
Then it was just strolling around the shops once again, waiting for the clock to hit 6.30PM.

今日私たちはクラスメイトと共に大阪へと旅をしました。早朝からバスに乗る必要があったため、移動は疲れるものでした。また、渋滞もひどく最終的にはみんな寝てしまいました。

大阪に着くと、信じられない光景が目の前に広がっていました。バスからの眺めだけでも映画の世界から飛び出してきたかのように近代的で、高層ビルが立ち並び、今まで見たことのない光景でした。バスから降りるととってもかわいいマンホールがありました。とてもクールでした。

USJは正直に言って混乱でした。少なくとも私にとっては。でも、それすらも楽しかったです。良い意味で圧倒されるほどやりたいこと、みたいもの、買いたいものがありました。私と友人はこの日についつい買い物をしすぎてしまいました。かわいい、小さなカチューシャからぬいぐるみ、キーチェーン、服まで、どれも我慢できませんでした。

どこにいても混雑していて、周囲の人のマナーの悪さに少し苛立つ場面もありました。リアルなホグワーツ城を見たときには、ハリーポッターの大ファンの私たちは心を奪われました。ヴィクトール・クラムやフランスの女子生徒たちによるパフォーマンスも素晴らしく、楽しめました。

友人は任天堂ワールドに行きたがっていましたが、そこは大混雑でした。人々は私たちを押しのけ、足を踏み、叫んだりと…。乗り物に乗ろうとしましたが120分待ちだったので諦めました。残念です。

昼食ごろには雨が降り始め、私たちは別行動をしました。私は、とんかつを食べに日本食レストランへ行き、友人はブリトーを食べに行きました。なぜか店員さんが食べ物と一緒に写真を撮ってくれました。めっちゃおいしかったです。

その後はショップをぶらぶらしながら、6時半になるのを待ちました。

We went to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka and arrived at around 10am. We all split up and went either in small groups together or by ourselves when we went around the park. I went with Lucy and Chen the whole day and we walked around the different sections of the park, ate food at different areas, went on some rides, and saw a couple shows. At 1pm, it started raining and continued to rain really hard for the rest of the day, so that was a little unfortunate. But we powered through the rain and continued to walk around the park. The coolest section for me was probably the Super Nintendo World area; it looked extremely accurate to the video games. By the end of the day, however, everyone was really tired and ready to go back to our rooms.

私たちは大阪にあるユニバーサルスタジオジャパンに行きました。10時ごろに到着し、それぞれ小さなグループか個人で園内を行動しました。私は2人の友人と行動し、一日中歩き回り、いろんなものを食べ、乗り物に乗り、いくつかのショーを見るなどパーク内のあらゆるところに行きました。13時ごろには雨が降り始め、その後は一日中振り続けていました。すこし運が悪かったと思います。それでも私たちは雨を力に変えて園内を歩き続けました。私にとって最もかっこよく感じたのはスーパー任天堂ワールドです。ビデオゲームの世界にそっくりそのままでした。最終的に一日もおわりには疲れ切って、部屋へと帰る準備万端でした。
