Fourth Place Among Japan’s Private Universities in “THE Impact Ranking 2021” (for SDGs)

On April 21st, the "THE Impact Ranking 2021" results were announced by British educational magazine Times Higher Education (THE). Ryukoku University entered this ranking for the first time, and was placed in the world university range of 401-600, and tied in Fourth Place among Private Japanese Universities.

THE Impact Ranking is a global university ranking which evaluates efforts contributing to the solution of social issues at each university, based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework adopted at the United Nations Summit.

Until this time, the university has been striving to solve social issues through various educational and research activities in the spirit of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, which is the university's "Founding Spirit". These efforts are aligned with the SDG principle "Leave No One Behind". We believe that this ranking result is indicative of the high reputation that our university has achieved on a worldwide scale.

At present, we are promoting the "Ryukoku University Basic Concept 400" -- a long-term plan for 2039 -- which will be the 400th anniversary of our institution's founding. Based on the university's unique concept of "Buddhist SDGs", linking SDGs and the spirit of Buddhism, we will gather wisdom from within and without the university in order to accelerate efforts toward the realization of a sustainable society. We welcome you to continue following our efforts.
