In consideration of the importance of protecting personal information, we proclaim “Our stance on Personal Information Protection” and our “Basic Policy of Personal Information Protection.”
Before the governmental “Act on the Protection of Personal Information”came into effect on April 1, 2005, Ryukoku University created and has been implementing internal “Regulations on Personal Information Protection” and “Detailed Regulations on Personal Information Protection” in 2002. We will treat any information that we collect from existing students, their families, graduates and other relevant individuals in accordance with the respective initial purposes. To fulfill our social responsibility as an educational institution, we will handle the information with more integrity than ever before. We will respect all laws and regulations and continue to protect personal information thoroughly.
We will observe the laws and regulations on personal information and strive to protect personal information based on the "Regulations on Personal Information Protection" and "Detailed Regulations on Personal Information Protection”. We will also strive for continual improvement such as revision of regulations whenever necessary in order to treat personal information properly.
In order to pursue our educational, research, extension and other activities, we will properly gather and use personal information only after having specified the purposes of use and having notified the individuals, or the public concerned, of the specific purposes.
We will not provide personal information to third parties without advanced notification of the purpose of its use, unless otherwise stipulated in laws and regulations. If we entrust the handling of personal information to third parties, we will implement safety measures and exercise necessary and proper supervision.
We will provide thorough instruction to our employees in security management such as specification of access rights and confidentiality obligations in order to treat personal information adequately. To this end, we have a chief privacy officer for proper treatment of personal information and continually provide education and training to our employees in order to make them recognize the responsibility and importance of protecting personal information. Also, we have implemented information security measures to avoid leakage, falsification, or unauthorized access to personal information.
We have a personal information protection committee to ensure control systems for personal information management and other related issues. The Office of General Affairs has been appointed as the contact point to respond to disclosure, complaints and inquiries regarding issues of personal information.
