We often hear the words globalization and internationalization. Although they may sound similar, they actually mean different things. Put simply, globalization means that all things are related across regional and national borders. In contrast, internationalization means overcoming differences in language, religion, culture, and other factors, based on the existence of national borders, and developing closer relations between different nations. The Faculty of International Studies at Ryukoku University develops leaders who are active on the world stage and facilitators who can connect Japan with the rest of the world based on an understanding of the difference between globalization and internationalization.
