Philosophy of Establishment

The Graduate School of Psychology, based on the Founding Spirit of Ryukoku University, aims to develop individuals who, through the acquisition of specialized knowledge in psychology, can deeply understand and comprehend the psychological challenges related to human relationships faced by communities and organizations in modern society, possess a high level of ethical and practical skills to solve such challenges, and have the ability to provide collaborative support with professionals in related fields.

The Graduate School offers a curriculum that ensures students are fully prepared to take exams for Certified Public Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist qualifications, which are the credentials for psychology specialists, and equips individuals with ethical and practical skills required for advanced professional practice through career education based on practical training.

Responding to new demands from society for clinical psychology

The Graduate School proactively responds to new demands from society, such as training in advanced communication skills for supporting people related to clients and practicing multidisciplinary cooperation as well as methods of indirect psychological support for clients’ family members and others involved, in addition to the conventional individual therapy approach.
