Japanese Culture & Language Program (JCLP)

Ryukoku University is a comprehensive university with ten faculties, a junior college and ten graduate schools dating back to 1639 when a religious seminar called “Gakuryo” was established at Nishi-Hongwanji in Kyoto. On our three campuses, Fukakusa, Omiya (both in Kyoto Prefecture) and Seta (Shiga Prefecture), we aim to foster qualified specialists who can contribute to both local and international society. Around 750 of the approximately 20,000 students are from abroad. The JCLP at Ryukoku University is a one-year program to study Japanese language and culture with a range of courses on these subjects. This is an ideal program for international students preparing to enter universities and graduate schools in Japan.
