Ryukoku University’s response to the Japanese government's lifting of the state of emergency declaration (from June 1)
On May 21, the Japanese government lifted the state of emergency declaration based on the Act on Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and New Infectious Diseases Preparedness and Response, for Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo Prefectures. On May 25, the government also lifted the declaration for the Tokyo metropolitan area and Hokkaido.
Please be aware that, in response to the lifting of the state of emergency declaration, Ryukoku University will implement the following measures.
Your own appropriate behavior and preparedness are the key to protecting your own and your loved ones’ safety. Continue to protect your health and stay home as much as possible, avoiding participating in events such as parties and going for unnecessary or non-urgent purposes to places where many people gather (in circumstances of the “Three Cs”: closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings).
1. Period of these measures
From June 1, 2020 (Mon) until further notice
Our university has created the "Ryukoku University Action Guidelines for Prevention of the Novel Coronavirus".
Subsequent actions will be taken according to these guidelines.
The Novel Coronavirus infection status is currently set at "Level 3", with consideration to the guidelines. However, please note that handling methods may change according to the situation.
2. Measures
(1) Classes
As already announced, all classes during the AY2020 first semester will be conducted online.
For details, please access the Gateway to information about online classes (in Japanese) through the top page of the University’s website.
However, the Graduate School of Science and Technology, the Graduate School of Agriculture, and the Faculty of Agriculture will offer some limited types of experiment, practicum and other courses on campus. Students at these graduate schools or the faculty may apply beforehand to enter the campus to attend these types of courses, and only if their applications are approved, they will be admitted to campus to attend the courses. For details, please check announcements from your faculty’s office on the University’s portal site.

(2) Prohibition on entering university campuses
With the highest priority placed on assuring safety, entry into the university campuses for educational and research purposes is prohibited, in principle.
However, students are admitted to campus on prior application to use career support services intended for students in the job-hunting years or some library services. For details, please check the following websites and the University’s portal site.
In addition, as a continued measure, if you do not have a PC or similar environment at home, you are permitted to use a PC installed in any of the Self-learning Rooms in the ICT Management and Support Center (Omiya, Fukakusa, Seta) to attend online classes.
(3) Prohibition of extracurricular activities

(4) Change of office hours
The offices in charge of student affairs will be closed until further notice. Please use email for inquiries as much as possible.

However, the following facilities and offices are open.
• Self-learning Rooms in the ICT Management and Support Center (for students who need PCs to attend online classes)
Hours:
Fukakusa and Omiya – 9:00–18:15 on weekdays; 9:00–17:00 on Saturdays
Seta – 9:00–18:30 on weekdays; 9:00-17:00 on Saturdays

(5) Reopening of the Osaka Umeda Campus and Tokyo Office
① Osaka Umeda Campus
• The Osaka Umeda Campus will reopen on June 1 (Mon).
• Hours: 10:00–17:00 on weekdays
• Only job-hunting students can use the campus, on prior application. For details, click here (in Japanese).
② Tokyo Office
• The Tokyo Office is scheduled to reopen on June 8 (Mon).
• Hours: 10:00–17:00 on weekdays
